Stop Wafer Contamination Before It Starts
If you’re running a high-load semiconductor line, you know the nightmare. An IR lamp shatters, and suddenly it’s not just about downtime. It’s a mess. Glass shards and halogen gas rain down on your wafers, and just like that, the whole batch is trash. We built our gold-reflector IR bulbs specifically to make sure that doesn’t happen. The science of keeping things cool Here’s the secret: we use a high-purity gold coating on the reflector. Why gold? Because it handles the infrared spectrum way better than aluminum. It pushes the heat exactly where it needs to go—toward the wafer—which keeps the lamp housing from overheating. Less heat in the housing means less stress on the quartz. We also use reinforced quartz to handle those brutal, rapid temperature swings. But a word of advice: if you’re pushing these to max wattage, the heat density is intense. Double-check your cooling fans. If they aren’t up to the task, the heat soak will eat through your lamp’s lifespan. Keeping the debris out To stop contamination in its tracks, we don’t just rely on the bulb. We pair the lamp with a high-strength quartz sleeve or a protective shield. Think of it as a safety net. If a filament burns out or the tube ever does crack, the shield catches everything. The debris stays put, and your wafers stay clean. We also obsess over the connectors. We use precision-fit parts to stop arcing at the terminals. Most people don’t realize that those tiny sparks cause localized hotspots, and that’s usually where the glass fails first. A few things to keep in mind The good news is these are drop-in replacements for your standard IR arrays. You get much tighter heat control and you can breathe easier knowing a catastrophic failure is far less likely. One heads-up, though. Gold is a bit more sensitive than polished steel.**Do not use harsh chemical solvents to wipe them down.**You’ll strip the coating right off and your efficiency will tank. Just stick to a dry, lint-free cloth to keep them clean, and you’re good to go.
